When we decided to go explore the National Mall last night (husband wanted to explore photography options, I wanted gelato) we weren’t expecting things to be so downright busy.
I think the truth of it is this: it’s flippin’ hot in DC during the day. Tourists come in from all over, but since it’s oppressively toasty all day, they spend their time in some flavor of Smithsonian during daylight hours and then, at night, they can explore the Mall when things are a bit more temperate.
Really beautiful and (mostly) void of crowds.
